Wollongong Off Road Duathlon


  • Competitors must pre register to participate.
  • Participants under 18 years must have permission from a parent or guardian to compete.
  • Due to the nature of the event course only Mountain bikes will be permitted (no road or racing bikes). As a general rule an ‘Off- Road’ bike can be deemed one whose tyres are between 1.3” and 2.35” wide (road or racing bike tyres are between 20mm and 28mm)
  • BMX bikes will also be permitted in the Junior ‘Have a Go’ Duathlon only.
  • Bike helmets must be worn during cycle stage and closed in footwear must be worn for all stages of the event.

Transition Area

The Transition Area, located within Towradgi park, adjacent to Towradgi Beach, will serve as the cross-over area that all competitors MUST pass through between the run and the cycle stages of the event in both directions.

NOTE: Competitors must place their bikes in this Area PRIOR to commencement of the first event stage (run). The Transition Area will then act as the cross-over point between the run and cycle stages in both directions

Bikes to Transition Area no later than 30 minutes PRIOR to commencement of race

Marshal to START 20 minutes PRIOR to commencement of race.

  • All race bibs must be collected prior to depositing bikes at Transition Area.
  • Bib number must be worn on the chest and visible at all times during the race.
  • No riding will be permitted within the Transition Area during the changeover between run and cycle stages. Running with your bike will be permitted.
  • Water aid stations will only be available at Towradgi Park near Start/Finish line and near Transition Area. Please bring your own water supply for the race component.
  • Event participants must follow event rules and instructions as indicated by Event and Sports Projects Australia Pty Ltd.
  • Event and sports Projects Australia Pty Ltd reserve the right to reject or cancel any entry in the race at any time that does not comply with race rules or as instructed by race officials and marshals.

Team Entries

There must be a min/max of 3 people competing to enter as a team.

Each person in the team must complete all stages of the run/ride/run course individually. The team of 3 cannot complete the course as a relay.

The three individual completed times are then combined; the fastest team is the team with the lowest combined time.

Registrations and Payment

Registrations and payment must be received to Event and Sports Projects Australia Pty Ltd by Thursday 28 May 2009.

Registration and Bib Collection desks will be open from 6.00am on event day at Towradgi Park.

The Registration/Payment/Bib collection desk will be located inside the Towradgi Park Bowls and Recreation Club.

Entry into the Club will be via the carpark entrance adjacent to Towradgi Park Bowls Club. Follow the signs.

NO entry will be allowed through Club’s front entrance on event day. This entrance is for Club patrons only.

  • Registrations made after Thursday 28 May 2009 payment will be accepted on the day of the event.
  • Late registrations must pay entry fee prior to collection of race bib.
  • Cheque, Money Order or evidence of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) must accompany the completed registration form.
  • Please ensure that you allow plenty of time to pay, collect your bib and deposit your bike into the Transition Area before marshalling to Start your race.

  • A manual timekeeping system will be used.
  • Timings will be given out as you cross the FINISH Line.
  • Winners will be announced on the day of the event.
  • Individual entrants, shortest completion time wins; Team entrants with the shortest total completion time wins.
  • Prizes awarded to 1st place Male and Female Individual and Team of 3 in each event. Medallions awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each event. All competitors receive Event Certificate.

Limited parking only will be available in the Towradgi Sports Park on first come basis.

Closest train station is Towradgi Railway Station – 1km distance to the event site at Towradgi Park.
